Pointe Claire resides in a quiet area of Montreal Island called West Island. The people who aren't familiar with this term often think that it's an island that's west of Montreal However, in reality the West Island is home to every aspect of the City of Lachine west. Many times, it is credited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time in the city was brief. Brugel lived in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. When she was a child she hoped to become professional performer, however an unexpected growth spurt made it impossible. After receiving the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. In the last 20 years, her roles on television and the big screen have been numerous. The role of Rita from the award winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most famous. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor on the show in the season 1 and was only seen occasionally.
